Chinese Film Aesthetics Conference

University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC), 6 & 7 May, 2022

Conference Description

Building on the success of last year’s ‘100 Years of Chinese Film & Screen’ conference, the University of Nottingham Ningbo China will be hosting the conference ‘Chinese Film Aesthetics’, Friday 6 May and Saturday 7 May, 2022. This conference will bring together scholars and practitioners to examine the aesthetics of Chinese film and moving image media, and discuss their reception, effects, and impact in China and around the world.

The conference will be a hybrid conference, with both in-person and online presentations. Due to current COVID-19 travel restrictions, we strongly anticipate that people from outside China will not be able to attend in-person.

Submission guidelines

We invite English-language submissions on any aspect of Chinese film aesthetics, including (but not limited to) artistic, auteurial, genre, historical, industrial, and commercial approaches.

Proposals for 15 minute presentations should be submitted using the following form by midnight, Thursday, 31 March - https://forms.office.com/r/nPDLGwnbnW

A full programme and abstracts will be available near the time of the conference. If travel restrictions change, the conference may have to be postponed or cancelled.
