Pump-track-cycling
Pump track cycling is a dynamic cycling sport that takes place on a purpose-built track with smooth, rolling wave sections and banked turns. It focuses on using “pumping” techniques—shifting body weight up and down to generate momentum—so you can ride through wave sections without constant pedaling, blending the thrill of speed with the joy of rhythmically gliding over bumps.
Your pump track cycling experience will start with gearing up in full protective gear: a well-fitted helmet (to shield your head), sturdy knee pads, and elbow pads (to protect joints from falls). For complete beginners, our instructors will guide you step by step: first, basic balance drills on flat sections of the track, then how to “pump” your body to navigate small wave sections, and finally how to maintain speed while riding through larger waves—all at a pace that feels comfortable.
We organize pump track cycling activities at Ningbo's pump track parks. These tracks are designed with versatility in mind: they have gentle wave sections and wide turns for new riders (perfect for building confidence) and more challenging, tight curves or steeper waves for experienced cyclists (to try advanced moves like “carving” or continuous pumping). Whether you' re a total beginner trying wave riding for the first time or a seasoned rider looking to refine your skills, the track' s varied play styles and safe environment make it a unique cycling experience—you' ll feel the excitement of mastering each wave while staying protected.
