Mountaineering & Hiking
Through our Adventure Sports Programme and Climbing Club, we also offer mountaineering and hiking for our students and staff through our ENGAGE programme and activities.
Hiking
If you are a fan of the great outdoors and would like to see a different side of Ningbo, throughout the year we will provide different hiking trips. The hiking trips we do are catered for all types of walkers and hikers. No specialist equipment or experience is required. Check out our events page to see when the next trips are.
Mountaineering
For students and staff who like more of an adventure, UNNC Sport and the Climbing Club over the past 2-3 years have organised mountaineering trips across China. Previous trips have taken UNNC students and staff to Mount Haba and mountain ranges outside of Beijing. If you are interested in mountaineering this will require a commitment from you, as there is a lot more training for participants due to the nature of this type of activity. UNNC Sport will help obtain the specalist equipment needed for these trips. More information can be obtained from our Adventure Sports Manager by clicking here.
Previous Mountaineering Trips
Mount Haba 2018
In July 2018, an eleven-person team of UNNC students and staff travelled to Yunnan Province in an attempt to reach the summit of Mount Haba. Accompanied by professional mountain guides, the adventurous group - including UNNC students Erfan Wang and Xingying Chen - took several days to reach the top of the snow-capped mountain.
Mount Haba rises 5,396 metres above sea level and is located close to the Tiger Leaping Gorge in Shangri-La. The types of environment on Mount Haba are varied, and include crossing muddy areas on a mule and snow climbing using ice axes.
