About School of Health and Life Sciences

Building on the University of Nottingham UK's global excellence, our School focuses on Pharmacology, Life Sciences, Psychology, Biomedical Engineering, Health Big Data and Public Health. The School provides undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral education.

Guided by Ningbo’s 15th Five-Year Plan, the School aims to build an international platform serving the Yangtze River Delta’s life and health industry. Through partnerships with the UK, the School secures top talent, benchmarks against UK teaching standards, and delivers joint doctoral training. Together, shaping the future of health and life sciences — in China and beyond.

Leadership & academic team

Academic leadership & strategic direction

The School is led by Professor Panos Vlachopoulos as Interim Head (Vice Provost, Education & Student Experience), with Professor Thomas Meersmann as Director of Strategic Development (Health Science & Technology) and Mr Michael Ying as Deputy Director for Planning & Operations.

Our Strategic Committee currently includes Professor Sube Banerjee (Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Univ. of Nottingham UK), Dr. Du Yiping (Zhiyuan Distinguished Professor, SJTU), and Professor Xiaoyi Chen (Principal Investigator, UCAS & Guangzhou National Lab; Executive VP, China Health Information Society). Additional members are being recruited.
