China and the World

This research cluster is interdisciplinary in nature bringing together scholars and research students from the fields of international relations, political science, history, and area studies working on aspects of China and the world from the late 20th century to the present day. Recognising the multiple ways of defining and delimiting the study of China’s role and connections with the rest of the world, we seek to enhance our understanding of the symbolism, actions, and reactions of and towards China in the world. By exploring theoretical and methodological perspectives in the particular areas of thought,  power, discourse, visual representation, and policy, we aim to contribute towards the knowledge and debates in studies of China and the world. The cluster promotes strong  interdisciplinary research collaboration and provides supportive environment and events for fostering research activity.
