To thank Dr. Li Dak Sum and his family’s generous donation to the university, the new library building is named 'Li Dak Sum-Yip Yio Chin-Kenneth Li Library'.
Located at the heart of the campus, Li Dak Sum-Yip Yio Chin-Kenneth Li Library covers an area of 7,500m². The designed floor area is 24,832 m² in total with five floors (including basement). The construction commences in June 2018 and completes in August 2020.
Highlights:
•Comprehensive and integrated space for learning, teaching and researchers.
•Extensive resources, world-class technologies and welcoming environment.
•Cultural gravity presenting heritage, advance and excellence.
“I think that this new library is a bricks-and-mortar demonstration of what UNNC does so well. That is, our student experience is paramount - nothing is more important to us than making our campus an inspiring, truly global learning environment – a unique place to study, work and live.”
Interior Design
The Interior Design Project started from June 2019.
"The building site of this library was originally a little forest, which had a lot of plants and small animals. We want to return this small forest to you in another form.
In this renovation design, we will make clear the moving line of the whole space, divide the functions of leisure, privacy, learning, discussion and gathering, and connect the two entrances and exits with each main space. At the same time, ecological elements will be brought into the interactive public space to create a sustainable coexistence environment between nature, community and architecture."
