The Spanish Crisis: Of States Rights and Nations Aspirations
Abstract:The School of International Studies in conjunction with the Faculty of Arts and Social Science Research Priority Groups is convening a Roundtable Talk to reflect on the ongoing Spanish Crisis. The Catalan declaration of Independence and Madrid suspension of Catalan autonomy has set off one of the most acute crisis Spain has experienced since Franco. This has far reaching ramification for the stability of the EU, the understanding of the rights of States and of nations, the future of States and naturally the very survival of the Spain modern state.
The Roundtable will reflect on the above issues and more with panelists drawn from an interdisciplinary background. We therefore invite Faculty, students and the University community at large to attend this exciting reflection on the Spanish conundrum.
