Weiwei Hu, an International Communication with Japanese student, has won an award in the Japanese Tanka (short poem) Contest, with a poem on the theme of love and longing.
The competition was organised by Echizen City, Fukui, and is mentioned in the oldest existing collection of this type of poetry dating back 1,500 years.
This year more than 18,871 entries were submitted from all over the world and Hu is the only foreign student who won a prize.
