Our gym has been equipped with new Life Fitness Insignia series weight machines since 2019 and their Elevation series of cardio machines including 18 treadmills, 5 upright bikes, 2 recumbent bikes, 7 Elliptical cross-trainers, four Concept 2 rowing machines and a Stairmaster. We also have a large free weights zone with signature series benches, bars, Smith and cable machine, etc. The gym has a dedicated space for functional fitness with a rack designed for bodyweight training and TRX use, and an area for kettlebells, sandbags, etc. Right next to this area are two Hammer Strength lifting platforms and on the other side of our gym we have a stretching area with gym balls, foam rollers and mats.

Gym Membership

Gym memberships are free for all UNNC Students and Staff. All you need to do is to register yourself on the Sports Membership App. For more information click here. Gym Induction


The Fitness suite is open every day (except public holidays and notified closure days) from 7am until 10pm. Please wear appropriate sport attire when entering the gym - no flip flops/sandals or high heels, no jeans or summer dress, and no food allowed. Please be respectful to your fellow students and staff and obey the safety instructions of our Sport staff at all times.

Body Composition Machine

The Body Composition Machine is a system that assesses your body through Bioelectric Impedance Analysis (BIA) and delivers 14 different measurements, such as your ideal weight, your BMI and your metabolic age, fat and muscle mass. You can also review your results with one of our fitness staff and help build on your personal fitness goals. Our Health & Fitness team have a wealth of knowledge and, as well as personal trainng, they also provide other areas of expertise outside of fitness. Throughout the year the team will provide training days with topics which, in the past, have ranged from nutrition, corrective exercise and functional training, so keep an eye out for these free sessions.
