Call for Papers
Conference Description
Organised by Gender Studies Group of the Institute of Asia and Pacific Studies, the University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC), the research Conference ‘Gender and Society’ will be held on 19-20 March 2022 at UNNC. The objective of this conference is to gather the talents of researchers in the field of gender and society to share cutting-edge knowledge, to decode the functions of gender in society and to further envision the direction of future development. We invite submissions for a presentation (20 min presentation + 10 min Q&A) on any aspect of gender and society research, from scholars and practitioners, including (but not limited to) the following:
- Gender and leadership
- Gender and translation
- Gender and media
- Gender and literature
- Gender and education
- Gender and technology
- Gender and health
- Gender and culture
- Gender and history
- Gender and employment/workplace
Due to the current restrictions on travel, the conference will be a hybrid in-person/online event.
Language Policy:
The conference will be in English and Chinese. If a talk is in Chinese, Chinese- English interpreting will be supported by students of the MA in Interpreting and Translation Programme at UNNC.

Key Dates:
- 20th January 2022: An abstract of 250 words (for 20-minute presentation) and a short bio (within 100 words) should be submitted toiaps.gsg@nottingham.edu.cn
- 31st January 2022: Notification of acceptance
- 20th February 2022: PPT and paper submission for translation if the talk is in Chinese
- 18thMarch 2022: Arrival
Submission Guidelines
Presentation proposals should be in a single document (.rtf / .docx / .txt) that includes:
- Title & abstract (below 250 words);
- 3-5 keywords;
- Short biography (under 100 words, including name, title/position, and institutional affiliation);
- Email address;
- Whether you would prefer an in-person or pre-recorded presentation.
