The University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC) is delighted to announce its collaboration with Chengdu Westminster School (CWS) on teacher training, school consultancy and the delivery of Cambridge Professional Development Qualifications (PDQs).

CWS-approved

In addition to the collaboration with Westminster School, since 2019, UNNC has become one of the important collaborators of CWS in the professional teacher training system, providing both teacher training and school consultancy for CWS. Now CWS will add UNNC’s Cambridge PDQ programme as a further facet to their collaboration.

For CWS, this collaboration continues the school’s tradition of cooperating with an academic team of top international experts in teaching methodology. For UNNC, this is another step forward in their strategy of civic engagement, positive societal impact and knowledge exchange in Chinese education, which is an area that both schools place great importance on.

Rodney Harris, the Founding Head Master of CWS is confident that this collaboration will ensure their teachers employ the latest evidence-based teaching methodologies.

He said, “We already engage separately with UNNC and with Cambridge International, and are now especially delighted to collaborate further through the provision of Cambridge PDQs by UNNC for CWS teachers. This is a unique opportunity to work together with two leading contributors to the training of teachers and the dissemination of pedagogical research. I look forward to a rewarding association.”

Prof. Derek Irwin, Head of School of Education and English, is also confident about this collaboration: "We are very pleased to be able to work with such fantastic collaborators in contributing to pedagogical education and training in China. As academics, we believe very strongly in the practical application of our work, and collaborations with schools and educators are a key element to bring together theory and practice to the benefit of all participants."

Shanker Bhatt, UNNC Executive Director of Educational Consultancy, also sees the collaboration a promising start to bringing the very best of UK education to China.

“This is a very exciting collaboration between two providers of top class training and teacher development (UNNC and Cambridge International) and Chengdu Westminster School, who bring decades of experience as one of the very best independent schools in the UK. All three parties will go strength to strength in helping teachers and education leaders reach their fullest potential.” He said.
