The Campus Run is an event that takes place every Saturday morning. The volunteers meet an hour before the run to set up the course for our runners. Then, we all meet at the Athletic Track by the Sports Centre at the time specified below to have a warm-up, a quick briefing from the director, and we start running shortly after.
Meeting point: Athletic Track by the Sports Centre (Blue tent)
Meeting time: 8.45am every Saturday (Septemer - May)
7.50am every Saturday (June- August)
Run start: 9am
Post-run social: Trio Café
Motto: No run, no bun
Campus Run ethos
It doesn’t matter how fast or slow you are, here, on our weekly Campus Runs we make sure that inclusiveness and wellbeing for all are the key principles.
From time to time, we even join forces with local foundations or charities to help up reach more people and spread our message: all ages and abilities are always welcome.
Meet the Team
The three organisers, Sebastian, Michaela and Bo, all staff of CELE have been dedicating their Saturday mornings to the weekly Campus Run since 26th of September 2020.
‘’The three of us used to run in different Parkruns around Liverpool. So, after months of dreaming of bringing the Parkrun culture into the campus, we finally managed to take this off the ground with help from the Sport Centre.‘’
Volunteers
Our team of dedicated volunteers make the weekly Campus Run happen each week, they provide a safe environment for everyone to participate.
Want to be a volunteer?
If you’re not into running (yet! Be careful, it’s contagious), but you’d like to be part of the UNNC Campus Run Team, you can get involved by volunteering.
The role of a volunteer is simple but extremely important. Below are some of the tasks that our volunteers are involved in every week:
- Set up the running course on a Saturday morning
- Stand at a designated area along the course during the run to guide and support the runners
- Keep cheering because running at 9am on Saturday is not a piece of cake

What to wear/bring?
Although no special clothing is required, in order to avoid any micro injuries, it is important to make sure you wear comfortable trainers. Other recommendations would depend on the weather conditions and some of the essentials could include:
Rainy day: light, waterproof jacket
Cold day: warm top, a hat or a head band
Hot and sunny day: light clothing and a cap to avoid a heat stroke
No matter the weather, have a bottle of water with you so that you can hydrate after (or even during) the run, especially on hot days when we tend to lose a lot of water through sweating. Staying hydrated is also important for keeping your muscles in good condition. According to scientists, keeping hydrated can help you prevent muscle spasms and cramps, improve the strength of your muscle contractions and increase muscle response, which will enable you to get the most out of your workouts.
