Biography

Xiaohe Gao completed her clinical internship at a child and family service center in Boston, USA. Since then she has been working at university counselling centers in China. Xiaohe currently practices in an integrative approach, influenced by narrative, feminist and family theories.  In university settings she also uses behavioral techniques.

Xiaohe’s main counselling experience has been in the areas of self-identity issues, anxiety/low mood, peer/family relationships, stress and eating problems. She works collaboratively to help clients understand their feelings, thoughts, values and social contexts, and find strategies to empower themselves in the face of challenges.

Besides clinical work, Xiaohe has worked on multiple research and NGO projects that aim to support social and career development among young people.
