Appointments
The best way to make an appointment is to submit an application in the system:
If you are in an on-campus network environment, please open the address <https://counsel.nottingham.edu.cn> and log in
If you are off campus or not in UNNC’s network environment, please try either way
- Student portal: login to the “Student Portal < https://portal.nottingham.edu.cn>”, and click “Quick Access”, find “Counselling Service System” and open it.
- AppGateway: enter the AppGateway <https://appgateway.nottingham.edu.cn>, log in with your university email address, and click the “University Counselling Service Management System”.
- UNNC VPN: add VPN through the guidance here (search the address of <https://myit.nottingham.edu.cn> - click ‘Hello, how can I help you?’ - enter ‘VPN’ and then search - click “How to use VPN to connect to campus”) to add VPN in your phone/computer. Connect the UNNC VPN and then open the login page of the system <https://counsel.nottingham.edu.cn>.
If you have any problems making an appointment in the system, please email universitycounsellingservice@nottingham.edu.cn
If you are unable to log in to the system, please contact IT service through email: itservicedesk@nottingham.edu.cn or call 0574 8818 0009 (ext. 8009) for further assistance.
How do we offer counselling service?
First meeting
When you first contact the service you will be offered an initial appointment, which will last 25 or 60 minutes. The purpose of this appointment is for you to tell the counsellor about your problem(s) and for you and the counsellor to discuss if and how counselling might help. At the end of this meeting, you and the counsellor will agree the type of work you will do, the number of sessions you will have and the date and time of your next session. This session is also an opportunity for you to ask questions about anything you are not sure of.
What next?
If you and the counsellor decide together that on-going counselling would be helpful, then further appointments will be offered to you. Counselling appointments are normally for 50 mins and, where possible, will be arranged to fit in with your timetable. During peak counselling periods in the semester, you might experience a waiting time of a few weeks. We appreciate your patience and understanding.

If you are unable to contact the University Counselling Service, there are other services on campus to help in an emergency.
