Monday – Friday 9am—12:30 pm and 2pm—5pm.

How does our appointment system run?
First meeting
When you first contact the service you will be offered an initial appointment, which will last 30 or 60 minutes. The purpose of this appointment is for you to tell the counsellor about your problem(s) and for you and the counsellor to discuss if and how counselling might help. At the end of this meeting, you and the counsellor will agree the type of work you will do, the number of sessions you will have and the date and time of your next session. This session is also an opportunity for you to ask questions about anything you are not sure of.
What next?
If you and the counsellor decide together that on-going counselling would be helpful, then further appointments will be offered to you. Counselling appointments are normally for 50 mins and, where possible, will be arranged to fit in with your timetable. During very busy times in the academic year, when the demand for the service is high, you may need to wait for regular counselling to begin.

The University Counselling Service is located on the first floor of Builing23, at the back of the building. If you face the front door of Building 23 with the supermarket on your right hand, please go straight and then make a right turn. You will find an entrance with a University Counselling Service sign. Come in the first glass doors and you will see another sliding glass door on your right. Touch the button to the left of the door and the waiting area is on the left after you enter.
