Mandarin
Mandarin is the most commonly spoken first language in the world today, and it's also the second most popular language used on the Internet. Therefore, it's no wonder that an increasing number of students opt to study this fascinating language here at UNNC. By learning Mandarin in China, students are not only able to practise what they learn in class outside on a daily basis, but they are also preparing themselves for a future where being able to speak Mandarin fluently will give them a distinct advantage in the workplace.
The Mandarin team offers a range of courses from beginner level to advanced level and classes focus on the four main language skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing. All classes are taught by experienced professional Mandarin teachers.
Like our colleagues in the Language Centre, the Mandarin team also run a number of additional extra-curricular activities. International Students are welcome to participate in a number of language-orientated social events, including meals out and local travel, as well as Mandarin Speaking competition - both on and off campus. The Mandarin team also runs an Intensive Mandarin Summer Course for all UNNC international students and staff

Our Mandarin for the Workplace summer programme has been designed to empower learners with little or no prior knowledge of Mandarin to develop sufficient language skills and a broad understanding of the modern Chinese workplace. It will also equip learners with lifelong learning skills, cross cultural skills and the ability to work with Chinese business partners in mutual understanding.

Nottingham Advantage Award courses
The NAA (Nottingham Advantage Award) Mandarin course is designed to give international students the opportunity to acquire practical Mandarin language skills in a structured yet relaxed way in 10 weeks with professional tutors of the Language Centre. The modules run both in spring and autumn semester.
