Overview
Compulsory PGR Training
This compulsory training session is designed based on the progression of the PGR candidates. For first year PGR students, we are offering the basic understanding of research skills, research ethics, and the supervisor-student relationship. For the second year PGR students, our courses aim to enhance the KYC (know your community) and encourage students to learn about journal publication. For the third year PGR students, the courses are designed to prepare them to have a nice ending as a PhD candidate and have a bright career after graduation.
Graduate School Research Recognition
GSR workshop is designed to provide opportunities for PhD candidates to develop their own research ideas and find peer collaborations. For each year, four research projects that contain series sessions will be delivered. Students who have accomplished all four projects within their PhD duration will be awarded GSR.
Distinguished Guest Speaker Series
Graduate school provides training from external guests to help PhD candidates meet their various demands. These trainings aim to complement the current UNNC training sessions and enables PhD candidates to reflect on their current skills and help develop their research skills. The training sessions will allow PhD candidates to match their current training needs in each section.
Research Activities
Graduate School also offers several forms of research activities for PGR students to connect with each other, share their own experiences and research pieces, and enjoy life during their PhD journey.
GTA Training
The purpose of GTA training is to facilitate PhD students to gain graduate teaching assistant qualifications. A PGR candidate must gain GTA qualification to apply for a GTA position starting in Y2. Please log in to the student portal to sign up for GTA training.
