Academic requirements
We consider applicants on the basis of academic merits as well as English language proficiency. Although the entry requirements vary depending on the course, as a general rule, you are expected to hold an honours degree at 2:1 level or above (or international equivalent) in an appropriate subject. Evidence of relevant personal, professional and education experience may also be taken into consideration.
Based on the application materials, the admissions committee may require the applicant to participate in relevant interviews or tests.
- For mainland Chinese applicants, the minimum average score is 80 if you graduate from domestic university of Project 985, 211 or double first-rate; the minimum average score is 85 if otherwise.

Open to all disciplines, applicants should provide below three documents during application:
- Applicant's CV
- A Business Plan.
In the business plan, applicants may describe the business opportunity they identify, how they want to pursue and why this is an attractive business. Please keep the business plan within 5 pages.
Applicants should better describe their particular interest in entrepreneurship (e.g. intention to start their own business in the future, intention to work in an entrepreneurial/innovation-driven firm, intention to take over their family business, etc.) in the personal statement.

Finance and Investment MSc

Applicants need sufficient finance and accounting modules/degree.

Finance and Investment (Professional Accounting) MSc*

Applicants must have demonstrated a basic knowledge in accounting either through the completion of Financial Accounting and Financial Reporting courses, or through passing the ICAEW examination in Accounting.
For international applicants, Chinese language level of HSK4 or above, subject to further assessment.
Interview may also be required due to limited places.

2:1 or equivalent in any subject and a minimum of 1 year's work experience in the field of education for applicants on a part-time basis. All applicants must achieve the *minimum entry criteria of IELTS 6.5 overall with no less than IELTS 6.0 in each of the individual bandings. All applicants must also complete an interview with the course admissions tutor.
*To qualify for an interview, students must ordinarily fully meet the IELTS entry requirement at their point of application. However, potential students applying to the MA IHE may be considered for an interview, if their total IELTS score is no less than 0.5 band below the stipulated entry level. In these cases, depending on their interview outcome, such students may be offered a conditional offer based on their successful completion of an English Language pre-sessional programme.

Urbanism and Sustainable Environments MSc |
2.1 honour degree or above (Upper 2nd class hons degree and above or international equivalent). In a relevant discipline: Urban Planning/Design, Urban Studies, Architecture, Architectural Studies, Geosciences, Geography, Environmental Sciences, Civil Engineering, Built Environment, Surveying, computer science and closely related degrees.
Applicants need to submit a (design) portfolio or representative case-project (illustrated), in PDF format (maximum 35MB).
Applicants (Domestic and International): Both to submit a minimum of two REFERENCE LETTERS.
Applicants (Domestic and International), who are recent graduates: At least one of the reference letters should be from a full-time faculty member of their university, who is an Assistant Professor or higher.

English language requirements
If your first language is not English or your entry qualification was not obtained in the English medium (from an approved institution) you are required to provide evidence of your proficiency in English.
The minimum requirements for our masters courses are listed below:
- IELTS 6.5 with the writing band no less than 6.0
- PTE Academic 71 (minimum 65)
- TOEFL IBT 87 (minimum 20 in speaking and 19 in all other elements)
The minimum English language requirement for MSc Finance and Investment (Economics, Money and Finance) * , MA Applied Linguistics, MA Interpreting and Translation Mandarin and English, MA Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), MA International Higher Education, MA International Communications Studies and ALL PGT Programmes from NUBS China:
- IELTS 6.5 with no less than 6.0 in any element
- PTE Academic 71 (minimum 65)
- TOEFL IBT 87 (minimum 20 in speaking and 19 in all other elements)
The minimum English language requirements for MSc Urbanism and Sustainable Environments are:
- IELTS 6.0 with no less than 5.5 in any element
- PTE Academic 65 (minimum 59)
- TOEFL IBT 79 (minimum 17 in writing and listening, 18 in reading and 20 in speaking)
Alternative test scores may also be considered.

Pre-Master Programmes
Centre for English Language Education (CELE) provides programmes for students who aim to go on to postgraduate study at The University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC) for 2023 Entry.
*Successful completion of the UNNC Pre-sessional is acceptable to meet the English language requirements for postgraduate admissions. You can then progress to your degree programme and are not required to provide IELTS or other English language test.The course will normally only accept applicants who are within 0.5 of the required IELTS (or equivalent for other accepted language test) for entry onto their degree programme.If you have already met the language requirements of your programme, it is recommended that you enroll in the Master Degree Preparation Programme.
