Welcome to GEP China

GEP China is a branch of the Nottingham Centre for Research on Globalisation and Economic Policy (GEP), a leading European research hub based within the School of Economics at the University of Nottingham (UK). Established in 2008, GEP China serves as a dynamic forum for scholars, particularly those based in Asia, to discuss and advance policy-relevant research at the intersection of globalization and the Chinese economy.

The centre was founded by Professor Sir David Greenaway, the original founder of GEP (UK), former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Nottingham, and former Li Dak Sum Distinguished Chair Professor in International Economics at UNNC. Building on GEP's wider legacy, the centre supports both fundamental and applied research in key areas such as international trade, foreign direct investment, and the political economy of globalization.

To foster this collaborative environment, GEP China actively encourages new research projects and hosts a variety of events, including a dedicated China lecture series, regular conferences, and workshops. Today, the centre holds an impressive international reputation. Its member includes researchers recognized among Elsevier's Top 2% Scientists globally, with research consistently published in leading international journals. Furthermore, drawing on the centre's deep academic network, its scholars have advised major global policy-making bodies, including the World Bank, OECD, and WTO.
