Fees for PGR programmes
There are three types of research degrees at UNNC, Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), Professional Doctorate in Education (EdD) and Master of Research (MRes).

PhD Scholarships
UNNC awards over one hundred full PhD scholarships a year to support the most outstanding applicants who have achieved academic excellence and show true passion for their chosen fields of study. A full PhD scholarship, covering tuition fee and a monthly stipend (4500 RMB a month) is available for three years subject to satisfactory progression.
The Faculty Scholarship
The Faculty Scholarship is to support high-achieving applicants applying for a faculty PhD programme. Prospective applicants are encouraged to outline their own doctoral research topics, which allows them the freedom to explore their academic interests and contribute original insights to their chosen fields of study.
The High-Flyer Scholarship
The High-Flyer Scholarship is to support the most talented UNNC graduates with first-class honours or distinction to continually pursue their PhD studies at the university. Prospective applicants should outline their own doctoral research topics.
The Doctoral Training Partnership (DTP) Scholarship
The Doctoral Training Partnership (DTP) Scholarship, funded by UNNC and leading research institutions and universities in China, e.g. Chinese Academy of Sciences, Zhejiang University, Shandong University, is to support excellent applicants in working on a joint research project under the supervision of academic staff in both institutions.
For this type of scholarship, only certain supervisors are involved, so please check the DTP scholarship’s research areas, projects, and supervisors carefully before submitting an application.
The Strategic Scholarship
The Strategic Scholarship is to support outstanding applicants whose proposed research topics are related to certain UNNC priority research areas, e.g. Green Chemicals/Technologies/Sustainability, Healthcare and Life Science, Digital Future and Intelligent Manufacturing and Global Connectivity and Communication. Applicants can either apply for a scholarship that has provided a research topic with a formed supervisor team or propose a research topic in which they are interested.
The Yang Fujia Research Talent Development Scholarship
The Yang Fujia Research Talent Development Scholarship, only available for spring entry, is open to exceptional applicants to apply for a PhD programme across three faculties. Applicants applying for this scholarship are expected to hold a great understanding of liberal arts education.
Family scholarship
An one-off 10% tuition fee reduction is awarded to the children, brothers, sisters, husbands or wives of students who are currently registered on award bearing full-time postgraduate course at the University of Nottingham Ningbo China or who have already successfully completed award-bearing courses. Supporting documents for this scholarship should be submitted in Application Hub. Students are required to submit official documents (e.g. a Birth Certificate) to prove his/her relationship with the family member.
Alumni scholarship
In recognition of the academic ability of University of Nottingham graduates, students applying for full-time postgraduate studies at University of Nottingham Ningbo China, whom have previously studied at either University of Nottingham in the UK, China or Malaysia, are entitled to a 15% tuition fee reduction for maximum of three years.
No application is required for this scholarship. However, students are required to send official documents, e.g. a Degree Certificate, to prove that they graduated from the University of Nottingham

Installment plans
Installment plans are not available to commencing students, so a student’s registration for degree study will be completed once the full payment of each year’s tuition fee has been made.
If you have completed at least one year study at UNNC and encounter financial hardship, installment plan applications are reviewed based on individual basis.
