RCE Ningbo launch

On 6 June, the Launch Ceremony of Regional Centre of Expertise Ningbo on Education for Sustainable Development (RCE Ningbo) & Forum on "Ningbo's Sustainable Future: Collaborative Innovation for Local Sustainability" were grandly held at Dongqian Lake of Ningbo. Officially accredited by the United Nations University as China's tenth Regional Centre of Expertise on Education for Sustainable Development (RCE), RCE Ningbo will serve as a regional hub integrating international sustainability education expertise with local resources, developing a model that combines Ningbo's distinctive strengths with global competitiveness.

12 December, the University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC) has been officially approved to establish the Regional Centre of Expertise Ningbo(referred to as "RCE Ningbo") on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) by United Nations University (UNU). The Centre will leverage UNNC’s global resources to build an international platform for sustainable development education and practice, cultivate professionals, drive sustainable research and innovation, and promote the sustainable development of local industries.

 

training on Financed Emission 2 11 July 2024
Dr Liang Dong, Assistant Professor from City University of Hong Kong. was invited to give a training lecture for student research assistants on Financed Emission. He introduced the concept and scope of Financed Emission,  international financial carbon emissions accounting system and methods, relevant policies and case analysis, in order to help students better participate in the research on financial emissions issues combining industry and academia.

The 2024 Summer Student RA Project launched by Centre for Responsible Business and Innovation carried out the training on ESG Research. Dr Ying Jiang, Associate Professor in Finance from Nottingham University Business School China, was invited to popularize the academic basics of ESG for students, focusing on ESG ratings, literature cases, databases, reporting indicators, etc., to cultivate students' research professional capabilities in the field of ESG.

 

城市矿山 Urban Mining知识普及 1 10 March 2024
Dr Xuan Feng, the Centre member and Associate Professor in Human Resource Management and Organisational Behaviour from Nottingham University Business School China, gave a student career lecture, explaining to students the intrinsic connection between E-waste Management and Circular Economy, which made students realize that proper management of E-waste around can be transformed into beneficial metal resources, promote the circular economy, and contribute to sustainable development.

With the rapid development of today's electronic age, the global metal resource shortage problem is significant. Initiated by the CRBl team and supported by the UNNC Environmental Sustainability Committee (ESC) and student associations, the E-waste Project conducted a questionnaire survey on campus Built-in Batteries of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (BBWEEE), students' environmental protection and circular economy awareness, etc.
