Our institute boasts three state-of-the-art laboratories: Digital Future Lab, Nottingham Fintech Lab and Digital Business & Analytics Lab at the University of Nottingham Ningbo China. Functions
The Nottingham Fintech Lab offers students hands-on training in data collection, analysis, modeling, and quantitative trading, creating an innovative and immersive learning environment. Additionally, the lab provides essential hardware support for students participating in business competitions such as the Bloomberg Global Trading Challenge and the CFA Institute Research Challenge.
The Digital Business & Analytics Lab (DBA Lab) is designed to facilitate teaching and learning excellence, drive the digitalisation of education, foster training innovation, and support scholarly activities at the University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC).
Equipment
Equipped with 51 high-performance desktops, the Lab supports a wide range of teaching activities and integrates leading financial databases and data analysis and visualisation software, including WIND, CSMAR, Tableau, Anaconda, and SAS.
Functions
As a cutting-edge lab advancing digital education technology, the DBA Lab closely aligns with UNNC’s campus development plan and the university’s objectives in enhancing education and student experience through digital transformation. Since its completion, the Lab has provided students with advanced technological and scientific resources, significantly enhancing their learning experience through the use of the latest methods and tools to tackle real-life problems.
The Lab supports teaching and learning activities requiring big data storage, complex algorithms, business data analysis, computational intelligence, data mining, deep learning, computer vision, image processing, and social network analysis. In doing so, it supports the ongoing digital transformation of degree programmes at University of Nottingham Ningbo China. Furthermore, the Lab enables students to practice data processing and analysis on decentralised or remote storage spaces using GPU-enhanced computers, reflecting workplace environments and equipping students with practical, employable skills.
Microsoft Imagine Academy Programme
The DBA Lab also continues to support the Microsoft Imagine Academy Programme, playing a key role in UNNC’s collaboration with Microsoft China in the areas of teaching innovation, digital transformation, and data analytics. Through Microsoft’s training and certification offerings, the Lab helps underpin the University’s teaching and research initiatives.
