Nottingham University Business School China Advisory Board

NUBS China Advisory Board provides strategic advice to support the Business School’s current development and future activities. Board members include distinguished leaders from private and public sector organisations that help to develop strong links with businesses, organisations, and policymakers to ensure the continuing relevance of the School’s activities. The Board reports through the Business School Dean who will report to the Business School’s Management Committee, and to the Management Board of the University.

April Lin
Ms April Lin, General Manager, Guapo Island Group

Ms April Lin graduated from London School of Economics and Political Science, China Europe International Business School and Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business, once worked for a foreign bank. Later, April devoted herself to education and established a company offering technology-based education platforms. 

Founded in late 1980s, Guapo Island Group is the first private enterprise in Zhejiang that has invested in a mine project in Africa. Now the group is one of the top 500 enterprises founded by Zhejiang entrepreneurs and top 100 enterprises of service industry in Ningbo. The company mainly focuses on real estate development and venture capital in frontier industries including finance, insurance, high-tech and green agriculture. Meanwhile, the group also sets foot in energy and mineral resources, bulk trade and resort hotels. 

 

Kenneth Yu
Mr Chun Hung (Kenneth) Yu, Board Member, MTS System; Former President, 3M Greater China Area 

Mr Kenneth Yu is a veteran of one of the World’s renowned innovative companies, 3M. He joined 3M in Hong Kong in1969. Over 44+ years, he has completed various leadership assignments in Asia and the home office in St. Paul, Minnesota. Most noticeably, he took over the leadership of 3M Greater China Area since 1993 leading it from a very modest beginning to become 3M’s largest subsidiary globally. Before he retired from 3M in 2014, he has been serving on the Board of MTS, a NASDAQ listed hi-tech company specialized in testing and sensing systems. 

 

Cui Ping
Professor Cui Ping, Director of Yongjiang Lab

Professor Cui Ping is the Director of Yongjiang Lab and Associate Provost in the University of Nottingham Ningbo China and Li Dak Sum Chair Professor in Advanced Materials. 

Professor Cui is a Principal Research Fellow, Doctoral supervisor, received her Bachelor’s Degree from Anhui University in 1982, and PhD degree from the Institute of Solid State Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1990. Her PhD supervisor was the world-renowned physicist Professor T. S. Kě. In the early 2004, assigned by Chinese Academy of Sciences, she established the Ningbo Institute of Materials Technology and Engineering. She was the Founding Director of the Ningbo Institute of Industrial Technology (CNITECH), the Chinese Academy Sciences. 

 

Hu Juewen

Mr Hu Juewen, Founder and Partner, OHFI Asset Management

After graduating from the University of Nottingham Ningbo China with a degree in International Business Management in 2009, Hu Juewen started his career at KPMG and then worked for a private equity fund. He co-founded OHFI Asset Management in 2014, which focuses on hedge fund manager seeding, proprietary trading and FoHF management. In 2019, OHFI became one of nine Asset Allocation License holders in the country, thus expanding the business to the asset allocation sector. In 2021, OHFI reached the AUM value of RMB 7 billion, ranking in the top 3 of the largest trading volumes in all three commodity futures exchanges nationally.

 

Huang Yiping
Professor Huang Yiping, Associate Dean of National School of Development; Director of Internet Finance Centre, Peking University

Professor Huang Yiping is Jin Guang Chair Professor of Economics and Deputy Dean of the National School of Development (NSD) and Director of the Institute of Digital Finance (IDF), Peking University. Currently, he is also a Member of the Monetary Policy Committee at the People's Bank of China and Research Fellow at the Finance Research Center of the Counselors’ Office of the State Council. He serves as Chairman of the Academic Committee of China Finance 40 Forum, a member of Chinese Economists 50 Forum, and the Rio Tinto Adjunct Professor in the Chinese Economy at Australian National University. He is Editor of China Economic Journal and an Associate Editor of Asian Economic Policy Review. His research areas include macro economy, financial reform and rural development.  

 

Joe Wang
Mr Joe Wang, Global Partner, BeautyStreams 

Mr Joe Wang, Global Partner of BeautyStreams, former Founding Partner of Paideia Capital, former Director of the board and CEO of Shanghai Jahwa United Co., Ltd. and former Chairman of Shanghai Herborist Cosmetics Company. Prior to Jahwa, he provided advisory and consulting services to the world’s leading IT vendors while working at Gartner in the US. He is a speaker highly sought-after by leading business forums and an adjunct professor in a number of leading business schools. He was the only Chinese speaker at a number of international cosmetics industry summits. He was the only Chinese member of the global board of International Trademark Association (INTA). He has published four management and marketing books in China (three in mainland and one in Taiwan) and translated from English into Chinese more than ten books in sociology, economics, management and marketing. He is a columnist for a number of leading business magazines in China. He holds an MBA degree from St. John’s University (New York) and a BA degree in Journalism from Fudan University (Shanghai).

 

Keith Ng
Mr Keith Ng, Retail Banking CFO, Ping An Bank
Mr Keith Ng is an international executive with integrated banking and technology experience. His past experience include strategic investment, digital transformation, financial management, technology consulting and startup advisory. He is currently Retail CFO of Ping An Bank. His last role was Head of Strategy & Innovation for Santander Bank in Asia. Keith is a graduate from London School of Economics and HKUST, certified with CFA and FRM. He has worked in London, Madrid, Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen. Keith is passionate on fintech, futurism and education.

 

Mao Zhongqun
Mr. Mao Zhongqun, Chairman & President, Ningbo FOTILE Kitchenware Co. Ltd.

Mr Mao Zhongqun founded the FOTILE in 1996 together with his father after graduating from Shanghai Jiaotong University with a Master’s Degree in Power Electronics. He also obtained an EMBA from CEIBS in 2002. 

Mr Mao constantly focuses on product innovation to lead the consumption trend, managing strategically in brand and developing enterprise in the long term. He is leading FOTILE to launch kitchen revolution time after time, leading and breaking the development trend of Chinese kitchen industry to be a decisive model in the new situation of Chinese kitchen market. After 25 years of development, FOTILE holds the wholistic target of being the No. 1 brand of Chinese kitchen electric appliances and a reputable brand worldwide as well, insists on professionalization, high-quality, and high-end brand position. Now FOTILE develops a Troika strategy structure with kitchen appliance, integrated kitchen cabinet and overseas business.

 

Peter Handstein
Mr Peter Handstein, Founder & CEO, Hape Holding AG

Chair of NUBS China Advisory Board

Mr Peter Handstein is the Founder and CEO of Hape Holding AG, the world-renowned wooden toy brand founded in Germany in the 1980s. In 1995, Mr. Handstein extended additional production base to Ningbo, China, greatly expanding its manufacturing scale and market scope in the process. Alongside his work in building up Hape into a globally respected toy brand that exports its products to over 60 countries and regions all over the world, Mr Handstein’s passion for social wellbeing and philanthropy has placed him and his brand at the forefront of educational and environmental matters within the toy industry.

 

Steven Barnett
Dr Steven Barnett, International Monetary Fund’s Senior Resident Representative for China

Dr Steven Barnett is the International Monetary Fund’s Senior Resident Representative for China. Before that, he worked as an Advisor to the Deputy Managing Director. For much of his career, however, he covered Asia. His positions included Chief of the China Division in the IMF’s Asia and Pacific Department, Assistant Director at the IMF Office for Asia and the Pacific in Tokyo, Resident Representative to China, and Resident Representative to Thailand. Before joining the IMF in 1997, he earned his PhD in economics from the University of Maryland. He has a Bachelor's degree in economics from Stanford University and a Master's degree in Russian and East European Studies, also from Stanford.

 

Thomas Zhu
Mr Zhu Xiaodong, Chairman & CEO, Ningbo Yunsheng Co. Ltd.

Founded in 1991, Ningbo Yunsheng Co., Ltd is a leading manufacturer in Nd-B-Fe materials. For over 30 years, Yunsheng is dedicated to innovations and improvements to bring more value to its customers. Mr Zhu Xiaodong is the second generation leader of Yunsheng, who devotes himself to "Manufacturing Industry". After studying for over ten years in the U.S., he led Yunsheng into a new era.  He has been awarded one of the top ten leaders of China Economic Transformation.  

 

Wu Bing
Ms Wu Bing

Executive Director and President of Ningbo Xiecheng Group

Ms Wu Bing was one of the first batch of graduates from Nottingham University Business School China in 2008. She worked in the financial industry in London and Shanghai before returning to her hometown Ningbo in 2015. She is currently the Executive Director and President of Ningbo Xiecheng Group. She leads the Xiecheng Group into becoming a company that is involved in manufacturing, finance, real estate, tourism and transportation industries, and has achieved outstanding results. For example, under her leadership philosophy of integrity and innovation, the manufacturing division of Ningbo Xiecheng Group has grown from RMB 350 million in 2016 to RMB 1 billion in 2020. At the same time, she set up the Group's investment division, and successively invested in Ningbo and Shenzhen to cultivate several enterprises to be listed on the stock market. She is also the recipient of the University of Nottingham Ningbo China's "Alumni of the year 2018" award.

 

Zhou Minfeng

Mr Zhou Minfeng, President, Ningbo Huaxiang Group 

As President of Huaxiang Group, Mr Zhou Minfeng has over 30 years of entrepreneurship and management experience in automotive parts industry and is primarily responsible for corporate strategic planning and business development. Mr Zhou assumes several key social positions: He has been Vice Chairman of the Ningbo Enterprise Federation, Ningbo Entrepreneurs Association and Ningbo Federation of Industrial Economy since 2009. Mr Zhou received his EMBA degree from China Europe International Business School in 2003 and graduated from Global CEO programmes from both China Europe International Business School and Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business.
