Students must attend all teaching activities necessary for the pursuit of their studies, undertake all associated assessments and attend meetings and other activities as required by their School or the University. Do to some unexpected occurrence, students are not able to attend the classes. Under those circumstances, Students are able to submit their absence application with provision of sufficient and persuading supporting document through Absence Application for Degree Modules and Chinese Culture Courses service card via the UNNC Portal.
Steps to raise absence application
- Go to https://portal.nottingham.edu.cn and input your university IT account’s username and password to login.
- Find “Student Services” and “Service Card” from the drop-down menu
- Search “absence” and find the card of “Student Absence Application”, then click “Apply Online”.
- Check your personal information and complete “Student Absence Form”. You should answer all question with “*"
Some considerations:
a. If the “Days of Leave” you request for is more then 10 days, you need to report to your faculty office first before filling up the form
b. Each application is expected to provide relevant supporting document in English
c. Files in the format of Word, jpeg, png and pdf are acceptable)
5. Add modules from which you will be absent
6. Clicking "Submit" on top left of the form. Once successfully submitted, an email of successful submission will send to you UNNC email account.
Search module(s)
Search by “Module Name”
Under the search type of “Module Name”, you may “Search module” by inputting key words, select correct “Type and Classes” which could be found in your timetable, and “Add class”.
Search by "Filter"
“Filter” relevant “Faculty / Centre” and “School / Department” to find the module, and “Add class”.
*For Chinese Culture Courses, please select “Centre for Research on Sino-Foreign Universities” in the column of “Faculty / Centre”. The selected class claimed as absence will be shown underneath after you click "Add class".
How to check your application record
You could find your submitted application at “My Actions” from the drop-down menu of “Student Services”, with the serial number of submitted application and its status.
Key Information
(1) Submission of your Absence Application does NOT mean your absence will necessarily be approved.
(2) Appropriate supporting documents

Leave due to health reasons: medical diagnosis certificate or a sick leave certificate(appointment records are not accepted.)

Leave due to personal or family affairs: a proof of the relevant reasons and explain the importance of the affairs to you

Leave to attend an important activity on behalf of the university: a certificate issued by the relevant department of the university.
(3) The time of leave is consistent with the time when the supporting documents are declared/issued
(4) When the application form is returned for further modification, please operate directly on the original application form without refilling. You can find the application record
