Postgraduate entry requirements 

We consider applicants on the basis of academic merits as well as English language proficiency. Although the entry requirements for our masters degrees vary depending on the course, as a general rule, you are expected to hold an honours degree at 2:1 level or above (or international equivalent) in an appropriate subject. Evidence of relevant personal, professional and education experience may also be taken into consideration.

The subjects/experience required for entry can be found in the table below:

Entrepreneurship and Innovation Management MSc Open to graduates of all subjects. Applicants should better describe their
particular interest in
(e.g. intention to
start their own business in the future, intention to work in an
entrepreneurial/innovation-driven firm, intention to take over their family
business, etc.) in the personal
Finance and Investment MSc Applicants must have completed sufficient undergraduate modules in accounting and finance. 
International Business MSc Open to graduates of all subjects, except business or management. 
International Management MSc Open to graduates of a related subject, such as accounting, business studies, management, marketing, economics or finance. 
Professional Accounting  MSc 

Applicants must have demonstrated a basic knowledge in accounting either through the completion of Financial Accounting and Financial Reporting courses, or through passing the ICAEW examination in Accounting.

For international students, Chinese language level of HSK4 or above, subject to further assessment

MSc Business

Open to graduates of all subjects, excluding degrees with significant business analytics content; plus A level maths, C or above, or a pass in undergraduate module(s) with significant mathematical/statistical content worth 10+ credits

MSc Marketing

Open to graduates of all subjects, excluding degrees with a substantial amount of marketing 

Economics Money and
Finance MSc (Pending for MoE approval)

2:1 (upper second class honours degree or international equivalent) with
significant economics content

International Higher Education MA Any discipline and a minimum of a year’s work experience in the field of education for applicants on a part-time basis. 
Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL)MA

Applicants should normally hold an approved first degree with at least second
class honours (or equivalent) or an approved professional qualification deemed to be equivalent to a second class honours degree.

Geospatial Engineering with Building Information Modelling(BIM) MSc

Course Requirements  2.1 honour degree or above (Upper 2nd class hons degree and above or international equivalent)

In a relevant discipline Geomatics, Geosciences, Geography, Civil Engineering, Architecture, Built Environment, Construction Management, Surveying, computer science or closely related degrees.

Other Requirements Applicants should Pass in Math in A level/GAOKAO or equivalent

Electronic Communications and Computer Engineering MSc

A high 2:2 or equivalent, including Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Communication Engineering, but subject to the prior studying of suitable modules.

MRes (MSc by research) Sustainable Energy Technologies  Open to graduates from relevant disciplines. 
Applied Linguistics MA A good honours degree (usually a 2:1)

Applied Linguistics and English Language Teaching MA

A good honours degree (usually a 2:1). Relevant teaching experience will be an advantage.

Interpreting and Translation, Mandarin and English MA

Open to graduates who have a first degree (BA) in any subject and very strong English and Chinese language skills. Applicants with English as a second language should have a good undergraduate degree. Applicants with Chinese as a second language should have a degree at 2:1 level (or international equivalent) and a level of competence in written and spoken Chinese equivalent to advanced level HSK. Applicants may be required to attend for interview and aptitude tests before admission to the programme if their linguistic and intellectual suitability for the programme is not apparent from their qualifications.
