Visa for current students
You need to hold proper visa to study, start an internship or invite your family to visit you during your full study period. And your student residence permit must be canceled upon certain change of study status.
If your residence permit does not cover your full study period, submit the required documents two months before your visa expires via the "International Students Residence Permit Extension" process on the Student Portal.
Required Documents:
- Photo of your passport identity page
- Copy of your current residence permit
- Copy of your latest entry stamp
Once approved, Global Engagement Office will guide you through the extension process at the local immigration office.

Before starting an off-campus internship in China, you must obtain approval from the University. The Global Engagement Office will then assist with the visa application at the local immigration office.
The T visa allows a maximum stay of 30 days and cannot be extended.
To apply, provide documentation such as a job offer or flight booking that explains your reason for staying in China.
To invite your spouse or children to China, provide a copy of your valid Chinese residence permit and a personal invitation letter.
S1 Visa: For stays over 180 days, valid for 30 days after arrival. We will help your family apply for a residence permit in Ningbo.
S2 Visa: For stays under 180 days.
Your student residence permit must be canceled upon graduation, study termination, withdrawal, a year-long absence, transfer to another institution, participation in a 2+2 program in the UK, or a change to part-time status.
