Dr Wei Huang

Dr Wei Huang is an associate professor in finance and accounting and head of department of finance accounting and economics at Nottingham University Business School China. He has a BSc degree in mathematics from Nanjing Normal University, an MSc degree in financial management with distinction from the University of Exeter, and a PHD in finance from the University of Bristol. He is also a holder of the Financial Risk Manager (FRM®) and CPA (Australia) designations, and has extensive experience in consultancy, corporate trainings, and executive education. Prior to joining Nottingham Ningbo in 2007 as assistant professor in finance, he worked in the University of Bristol as teaching fellow in accounting and finance (2003 – 2006) and Northumbria University as senior lecturer in finance (2006 – 2007). Wei has been consistently ranked among the best teachers in Nottingham University Business School China according to the Student Evaluations of Teaching (SET) surveys.
Wei is currently the China area editor of Research in International Business and Finance (ABS2/ABDC-B/SSCI) and associate editor of International Review of Financial Analysis (ABS3/ABDC-A/SSCI), International Review of Economics and Finance (ABS2/ABDC-A/SSCI), Finance Research Letters (ABS2/ABDC-B/SSCI). His research lies in the areas of corporate finance, financial reporting, and finance and innovation. He has a particular interest in the Chinese markets and firms and has supervised a number of PHD students to completion. Over a dozen of Wei’s papers, including several single-authored ones, have appeared in ABS-3/ABDC-A ranked finance/accounting/economics journals.
Overview
The major changes in the operating environment of modern enterprises and the widespread implementation of strategic management have put forward new requirements and challenges to the theories and methods on which enterprise financial management is based. Traditional financial management theories and methods can no longer meet the needs of today's corporate strategic management. This module is aimed at enhancing your understanding of corporate finance and strategies, developing your ability in financial management, and enhancing corporate values and shareholder wealth during the new era of technological innovations and social evolutions.
