This summer school offers digital research courses for undergraduate students in the Year 3&4. It offers students the opportunity to go into the lab and learn about data analysis software. This allows students to make the most of the summer to improve their academic research skills, develop their creative abilities and enhance their application background. In addition, students have the opportunity to interact with professors, students and academics from all over the world.

Prof. Alain Chong

Professor in Information Systems, Dean of Graduate School and Global Engagement

Alain Yee Loong Chong is a Professor in Information Systems and Dean of Graduate School and Global Engagement at University of Nottingham Ningbo China. He obtained his PhDs from University of Nottingham and Multimedia University Malaysia and was a postdoctoral research fellow at Hong Kong Polytechnic University. His current research interests include social media analytics, digital transformation and mobile computing. His work has appeared in Journal of Association for Information Systems, Information Systems Journal, Information & Management, Decision Support Systems, Transportations Research Part B: Methodological, Annals of Operations Research, International Journal of Operations and Production Management and Information Systems Frontier, among others.

He now serves as the Co-Editor of Industrial Management & Data Systems, Senior Editor of Decision Support Systems and Associate Editor of Information & Management. He was named one of the Most Cited Researchers based in China (from 2015 to 2020) by Elsevier Scopus database. Alain was named as 'The Outstanding Young Malaysian 2012', an award conferred by the Junior Chamber International. He also received the Camilla Award from the City of Ningbo in 2020.

Prof. Vladimir Brusic

Li Dak Sum Chair Professor in Computer Science

Prof. Brusic joined University of Nottingham in 2018 as a Li Dak Sum Chair Professor in Computer Science. He studied at University of Belgrade, Serbia, La Trobe University (Australia), Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (Australia), and Rutgers University (USA).

His research expertise is interdisciplinary: bioinformatics, health informatics, mathematical modelling, predictive analytics, artificial intelligence, and machine learning. He is interested in complex systems analysis and development of knowledge-based systems. He developed new software solutions used for scientific discovery and optimization problems in medical diagnosis and monitoring of human health. He developed a novel diagnostic product for tissue typing (patent US 8969254 B2) and used knowledge-based systems to discover targets for vaccine optimization (patent US 9205144 B2).
