How to apply

Applications can be made pending final results or during the final year of school / university education. Conditional offers will be made where appropriate and students will have until 15 July 2027 to provide their results such as English language test scores and/or diploma certificates. 

The university will make exceptions for students studying qualifications where results will only be officially released after 15 July 2027 including the HKDSE, GCSE and A-level results. 

Please note you should not submit any supporting materials (including essays) that you would like to be returned to you. It is the University's policy not to return any application materials.

Your application should include the following materials:

• One recommendation letter on headed paper, signed and/or stamped
• Transcript of school exam results (completed or results so far)
• High School Certificate
• English language test score report if already received (e.g. IELTS or PTE)
• Personal statement
• One photocopy of the main pages from your passport
• One 2 inch color bareheaded photo with white background (Note: the head must occupy two thirds of the photo; photo dimension is no less than 320 × 240 pixels, the aspect ratio is 4:3; the file size is between 100kb - 500kb; jpg format)
• Identification document for applicants from China's Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan regions
  • Hong Kong - a copy of Hong Kong Permanent Identity Card & Mainland Travel Permit for Hong Kong and Macao Residents
  • Macao - a copy of Macao Permanent Identity Card & Mainland Travel Permit for Hong Kong and Macao Residents
  • Taiwan - a copy of China's mainland travel permit for Taiwan residents, front and back sides

Documents submitted in a language other than English must be accompanied by a complete English translation made by an accredited translator.

You should be prepared to provide original documents or original certified copies of supporting documents at registration and upon request at any time. Failure to do so may result in your candidacy being rejected.

The deposit can only be refunded in the following circumstances:

• If the University cannot provide the academic programme originally accepted by the offer holder due to unforeseen circumstances and the offer holder does not wish to take an alternative programme;
• If the conditional offer holder fails to meet academic conditions stated in the offer letter (supported by official final transcripts);
• If conditional offer holder fails to provide the English language qualification stated in the offer letter (supported by test results dated after the offer was issued);
• If student has evidence of medical condition that would not allow them to start their course at UNNC in case of visa refusal.

The deposit refund application for the 2027 intake will open from 1 July. Eligible applicants must decline the offer through Application Hub and send the refund request with supporting documents by 1 September to International_admissions@nottingham.edu.cn. Late submissions will not be accepted. Applications will be reviewed case by case from 2 September 2027. Approved refunds will be processed from 15 October 2027. Applications not meeting the refund criteria will not be reviewed.
