“I would like to rely on a set of intuitions and experiences, which derive from the 10 years I lived in China, and venture to make a prediction: China will not only rise from this health emergency stronger than before, but also take advantage of these months of crisis to accelerate its social and economic transformation.”

Michele Geraci, Professor of Practice in Finance at UNNC

Entitled “China will emerge stronger after the outbreak”, Michele mentioned that many practices in China could be worth copying in other countries across the world.

When the virus spread internationally, he urged the Italian government to learn from China's experience and formulate an anti-epidemic plan contingent on national conditions in the country.

Michele came to China ten years ago and joined UNNC in 2012.

“I have been working at UNNC for several years and helping Italian officials, entrepreneurs and the public to understand China. I have been thinking about what we can learn from the rapid economic development of China. "

At the beginning of COVID-19 outbreak, Chinese restaurants, bars and shops in Italy were seriously impacted. In his media appearances and interviews, Michele has voiced his opposition to what he perceived as discrimination.

Michele recorded various videos calling for global support for Wuhan to overcome the virus. He said, "I want to tell all my Chinese friends, we support you in Italy! I hope that Italians will know that Wuhan is not just a distant city that they have never heard of. In this city, everyone, every family, every patient and every medical expert are using their power to create miracles, not only to defend Wuhan, to defend China, but also to defend the world."
