The paper ‘Challenges of S&T System Reform in China’ by Professor Cong Cao won a first-class award
After two rounds of evaluations, the Ningbo Leading Group for the Selection of Outstanding Achievements in the Philosophy and Social Sciences released the list of the 16th (2016-2018) outstanding achievements. Professor Cong Cao’s paper ‘Challenges of S&T System Reform in China’ received a first-class award, which marks a new breakthrough in the social science research at the University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC). The paper was originally published in Science in March 2017.
Professor Cong Cao, a scholar of social studies of science, technology, and innovation in China, holds a PhD in Sociology from Columbia University and is Professor in Innovation Studies at NUBS China. He has published extensively on China’s scientific elite, human resources in science and technology, research and entrepreneurship in nanotechnology, reform of the science and technology system as well as other subjects. His book on China’s evolving policy pertaining to research and commercialization of agricultural biotechnology is forthcoming from Columbia University Press. His research has been supported by the U.S. National Science Foundation, the European Union, the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and other organizations.
Currently, he is teaching the module Globalization and Innovation in China to senior students. At the same time, he is also supervising and co-supervising 4 PhD candidates.
