01 March 2022

The Language Centre’s Stage 3 and 4 courses have been awarded ‘Recognised Programme’ status by the Chartered Institute of Linguists (CIOL) the UK’s most distinguished institution for language professionals. This is a significant confirmation of the Centre’s teaching practice. After examining teaching materials and assessments, the CIOL recognises the high professional standards of the language courses and their delivery.

Recognition is the first step. The Language Centre is already preparing to apply for Validated Programme status as the Centre continues its pursuit of excellence and seeks to communicate its international reputation for high teaching standards. The beneficiaries are the Language Centre, the University, and most importantly UNNC students.

The Chartered Institute of Linguists (CIOL) is the UK's Royal Charter body for language practitioners. It aims to enhance the recognition and promote the value of languages and language skills in the public interest. Founded in 1910, CIOL has over 7,000 members worldwide.
