On 25 May, the UNNC PGR basketball team played a friendly game with one of our Doctoral Training Partnership (DTP) partners, Ningbo Institute of Materials Technology & Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CNITECH).

After a quick warm-up, the friendly basketball game began to the cheers of the crowd.

At the start of the game, CNITECH took the lead with a precise two-pointer and a splendid three-pointer. UNNC responded with increasing pressure, leading to an escalation in performance from both sides. CNITECH team displayed a dominant offense, showing good coordination and widening the score gap for a while. CNITECH closed the first quarter with a 26:10 lead over UNNC.

In the second quarter, UNNC adjusted their tactics, executing a flawless team play and launching decisive attacks. They scored 11 points in a row, creating a small climax to bring the score to 26:21. The game intensified as both teams traded points and by the end of the second quarter, UNNC had slightly overtaken CNITECH with a score of 49:50.

At the start of the third quarter, both teams traded points, with CNITECH taking a slight lead at 75:73.

The game reached its climax in the final quarter, as the score tightened to 95:99 and the atmosphere in the arena heated up as the crowd began to cheer louder.

Eventually, UNNC’s player number 99 broke through multiple defenses and hit a beautiful two-point shot. The game ended with a narrow victory for the UNNC team.

After the game, players from both teams hugged and shook hands in celebration of the morning's competition and good relations. The players then enjoyed lunch together on the UNNC campus.
