The aim of this new course is to help equip future postgraduate students with some of the core academic research skills that they are likely to draw upon and need over the duration of their studies. This 2-week course runs from 19 August to 30 August, 2024.

 

Who needs this course?

This course is designed for all postgraduate students who would like to work on their academic research and study skills prior to their programme starting. It also presents a great opportunity to network and enhance language and communication skills.

 

Introduction to Centre for English Language Education (CELE)

CELE is one of the largest and most prestigious English language teaching and learning centres in the world.

It is staffed by more than 100 highly qualified and experienced academic staff from more than 20 countries and regions around the world. These staff are experts at teaching the academic skills needed to build a solid foundation for postgraduate research.

It is known for small class sizes, interactive teaching methods, and a student-centred view of education. It also facilitates and provides a rich experience in helping students to adapt and thrive in English-language academic environments.

 

Curriculum Characteristics

Gareth Morris

Dr. Gareth Morris (SFHEA)

 

Gareth has worked at UNNC since July 2023. Prior to that he spent two years at the Perse School (Suzhou) and a decade at Xian Jiao Tong-Liverpool University. In addition, he worked and studied at Soochow University for four years. He completed his doctorate at the University of Exeter which is where he also completed his Masters and PGCE (QTS). His research interests are reasonably diverse and he has published and presented on a wide range of topics.
