The Lord Dearing Award

The Lord Dearing Award celebrate the world-class contribution made by a wide range of University staff who have enhanced the student learning experience.  The Dearing Award has been running since 1999 and is overseen by the Teaching and Learning Board.

Each year 20 awards are made to teaching staff and 10 to staff from other areas such as technical or support staff.  Nominations for an award can be made by staff or students using the nomination form.

A new award category launched in 2017 - The Lord Dearing Award for Excellence in the Learning Environment. This award will each year recognise a School or Department where efforts to achieve excellence in teaching and in the student experience have been embedded across all programme teams and staff groups. Heads of School or Departments are invited to self-nominate their unit with the submission of a short statement.

Nottingham Recognition Scheme

The Nottingham Recognition Scheme (NRS) enables participants to claim recognition for their contributions to the University’s educational objectives, based on evidence of engagement with the UK Professional Standards Framework (UKPSF) in their teaching and their continuing professional development activity.

Please send us an enquiry if you would like to find out more about NRS.
