University of Nottingham Ningbo China offers various scholarships to students to reward academic excellence and promote diversity. Over 40% of our postgraduate students were awarded scholarships for their study at UNNC. Once enrolled, approximately 32.5% of our current students are eligible for additional merit and/or performance based scholarships and awards.

One student may apply for multiple scholarships but will only be eligible to receive one entry based scholarship award (including the Family scholarship) and one progresion based award during his/her academic study at UNNC. Should one student being considered for two awards, only the one award with the highest value will be granted. Scholarship offer will not be deferred to the next academic year.

Nottingham global (full/half/a quarter) scholarships

There are three types of Nottingham global scholarships available.

  • The full scholarship awards the student an equivalent of 100% tuition fee of one year study.
  • The half scholarship awards the student an equivalent of 50% tuition fee of one year study.
  • The a quarter scholarship awards the student an equivalent of 25% tuition fee of one year study.

This scholarship is an entry based scholarship which means the awardee's tuition fee for one year will be waived or it will be refunded if the full tuition fee was already paid.

Eligibility

  • Full time postgraduate student from overseas who has submitted an application.
  • Full scholarship: Merit-based selection based on outstanding academic performance with minimum achievement of UK first class (70) or equivalent, as determined at the time of admission.
  • Half scholarship: Merit-based selection based on outstanding academic performance with minimum achievement of UK upper-second class (65) or equivalent, as determined at the time of admission.
  • A quarter scholarship: Merit-based selection based on outstanding academic performance with minimum achievement of UK upper-second class (60) or equivalent, as determined at the time of admission.

How to apply 

Separate applications for Nottingham global full/half/a quarter scholarship are required. To complete the application, a filled scholarship application form is required to be submitted on Application Hub by 31 May 2025. 

Zhejiang/Ningbo government scholarship

This scholarship awards 30,000 RMB each to international postgraduate students to be used toward the tuition fee of their study at UNNC.

How to apply

Students who would like to apply for this scholarship should hold, or be on course to achieve a 2:1 for their undergtraduate degree. Prepare the following documents and submit to the Application Hub by 31 May 2025:

Central and Eastern European Countries (CEEC) scholarship

This scholarship awards 30, 000 RMB each to full-time postgraduate students from central and eastern European countries for their study at UNNC. Eligible students will be awarded without application each year. 

Eligible countries include Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Slovenia, Croatia, Romania, Bulgaria, Serbia, Montenegro, Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Albania, Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia.

Family scholarship

An one-off 10% tuition fee reduction is awarded to the children, brothers, sisters, husbands or wives of students who are currently registered on award bearing full-time postgraduate course at the University of Nottingham Ningbo China or who have already successfully completed award-bearing courses.

Application to this scholarship should be submitted in Application Hub. Students are required to submit official documents (e.g. a Birth Certificate) to prove his/her relationship with the family member.

Alumni scholarship

In recognition of the academic ability of University of Nottingham graduates, students applying for full-time postgraduate studies at University of Nottingham Ningbo China, whom have previously studied at undergraduate level at either University of Nottingham in the UK, China or Malaysia, are entitled to a 15% tuition fee reduction for maximum of three years.

No application is required for this scholarship. However, students are required to send official documents, e.g. a Degree Certificate, to prove that they graduated from the University of Nottingham.
