18 July 2025
In July, 22 students from China University of Mining and Technology (CUMT) joined the International University Experience Summer School at the University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC). Hosted by the Centre for English Language Education (CELE), the summer school follows UNNC’s student-centred teaching philosophy and offers tailored courses for CUMT students.
Focused on the growth needs of students, the summer school features a modular, highly interactive curriculum. It includes academic English courses and interdisciplinary workshops, providing systematic and targeted international literacy training. Through professional academic English practice and guidance on international communication skills, students have strengthened their ability to express themselves and communicate in global settings. They have also learned to collaborate effectively in multicultural environments, better understanding and addressing industry challenges worldwide.
In customized workshops by UNNC’s Business School and Faculty of Science and Engineering, courses on finance, computer science and artificial intelligence have shed light on data-driven business decisions and the ongoing wave of technological change. These sessions have enhanced students’ professional expression, problem-solving skills and interdisciplinary research capabilities.
With CELE’s rich experience and global perspective in international education, this International University Experience Summer School for CUMT students has not only boosted the growth of students but also served as a successful inter-university effort to advance students’ global development. It showcases UNNC’s active role in nurturing globally competitive talents and signals that more students will grow through such platforms and step onto a broader international stage.
