UNNC Pre-Sessional&Postgraduate, Research Preparation Course 2025 Wrapping Up
Programme Introduction
This summer, the UNNC Pre-Sessional Programme and the UNNC Graduate Research Methods Course 2025 have been launched, with a professional training system, to open the door of academic advancement for graduate students from all over the country.
The two courses are designed by the CELE at the UNNC. They are designed to improve the comprehensive ability of postgraduate students in professional literature reading, academic writing, listening comprehension, and oral expression.
Course Content
Pre-Sessional Programme:
Delivered in small, all-English classes, it centered on academic English proficiency development. Through systematic teaching modules, it included two core components: Reading, Writing, and Research Skills (RWRS) and Listening, Discussion, and Presentation Skills (LDP). The course focused on fostering students’ key abilities such as academic literature review, research paper writing, academic presentation, and critical thinking, helping them fully master the application of academic English.
Postgraduate, Research Preparation Course:
While retaining the two core modules of RWRS and LDP, it emphasized additional training in core research methodologies, including research design, literature review writing, and data analysis methods. It aimed to cultivate students’ research methodology and academic practical capabilities, enhancing the practical application efficiency of academic English in research practices. Through differentiated designs, the two courses met the development needs of students from diverse academic backgrounds and jointly constructed a comprehensive academic English proficiency training system.
Graduation Moment:
During the achievement presentation, students organized their learning achievements during the course into academic posters with distinct themes and detailed content. During the presentation, students will explain the highlights of the results on the stage in turn, and the course tutors and peer students will make on-site comments and give specific suggestions for improvement according to the shortcomings in the posters. This link not only comprehensively tested the learning effect, but also built a platform for mutual learning, exchange, and reference, and further consolidated the learning effect of the course.
At the closing ceremony, CELE Deputy Director Shayna Kozuch made a speech to review the course and fully recognize the progress and transformation of the students. Student representatives shared their learning experiences and counted the gains and growth of this academic journey. In the end, all students who completed the course were awarded a certificate of completion and took a group photo.
Conclusion
The 2025 Postgraduate Pre-Sessional Programme and Research Methods Courses at the UNNC successfully concluded. During the weeks of in-depth learning, students not only systematically improved their academic English listening, speaking, reading, and writing abilities but also developed rigorous academic thinking through the professional curriculum system, laying a solid foundation for academic exploration in their postgraduate studies.
This growth journey, integrating language refinement and research method training, is empowering students to move forward confidently in their future academic pursuits with more professional academic literacy and a broader international perspective.
