 International Studies with Chinese, entered 2015

 

I  was born and raised in central Japan. In age of 18, after graduating from a Japanese high school, I decided to take a gap year : working in Japanese and international companies, traveling around Asia and studying English. Then I went to a collage in England to do a course called Access to higher education with Business with local British students. After successfully achieving the course, I entered UNNC. Now I'm a year three student majoring International Studies with Chinese.

 My research interests are political ecology of rising China, environmental and energy justice, poverty alleviation and building resilience for the poorest and most vulnerable.  I look at what is power and how power politics change the world. It could be looking at how politics determine the use of the environment, and impact on development trajectories of a country or region such as China or Africa, or assessing what empowers marginalized communities in the global South to break the poverty cycle.

My research will inspire the average person to be more aware of the environmental degradation and the unequal global structures and systems, and hopefully motivate the average person to do something to better the well-being of the environment, and equity distribution of resources and rights in this world.
