I chose UNNC because of its international environment, approachable staffs, and beautiful campus. I believe that UNNC has provided me with real experience in regard to modern academics and research. Furthermore, the skills used in the MA in Applied Linguistics are also easily transferred to many different jobs and careers. Taking project-based research as an example, working on a project is not just something you do at university. Being able to set realistic targets, manage separate elements within a strict timeline as well as managing your own time to create a high-quality piece of work is something that many employers look for in prospective employees.

MA in Applied Linguistics & ELT, 2016

PhD student at UNNC since 2018

UNNC establishes itself as an international institution where people from other countries with diverse academic backgrounds and working experience come and study. This is especially attractive for me as a young professional English language teacher who has worked for some years and would like to reflect and get inspirations from others. In the programme, I have benefited a lot from various approaches and perspectives that are possible to look at English language and teaching.
As the professors and teaching staffs in the School of English have expertise on a wide range of topics in applied linguistics, I enjoyed talking with them and working on my own area of interest under their guidance.
While I was studying in UNNC, I received many offers and was finally recruited as an English language teacher in an international programme in a public school. From my own experience, the university’s degree has enjoyed a high reputation with many successful alumni. Moreover, the professional knowledge gained in the postgraduate study and the confidence to communicate in English fluently helped me secure a place in the fierce job market.
