The conference will be executed with a blended approach of in-person and online workshops and talks, with online meetings via Teams for maximum engagement.

Call for Proposals

The 2023 UNNC EAP / ESP Conference will be held Friday 19^th – Sunday 21^st May 2023 on the UNNC campus in Ningbo and online. Speaker proposals are welcomed from all practitioners in the fields of English for Academic Purposes, English for Specific Purposes and English as a Medium of Instruction.

The themes of the conference include:

• Hybrid / blended learning
• Developing critical thinking
• Designing assessment
• Transnational / transcultural higher education
• EMI in the Chinese context
• Flipped classroom
• Using VLEs
• Gamification
• Needs analysis
• Materials creation
• Transitioning from ELT to EAP
• EGAP or ESAP
• Teacher development
• Supporting students
• Student-led /student-assisted research projects

Submissions Guide

Proposals are invited for:

• 30-minute presentations or workshops
• 10-minute mini-presentations (particularly recommended for students and first-time presenters)
• 45-minute panel discussions with 3 – 4 presenters
• Poster presentations

Important dates

Abstracts submission forms should be submitted in the link by 15^th March 2023.

Speakers will be notified of proposal acceptance by 17th March 2023.

The deadline for registration and payment of fees is 15^th April 2023.

For inclusion in the Conference Selections book, the deadline to submit the session description is 15^th July 2023.

Travel

The nearest airport is Ningbo Lishe International Airport, which is well connected with the major international airports in other cities in China.

Ningbo is also served by a major station on the high-speed railway network.

From either the airport or the railway station, a taxi to the UNNC campus takes about 30 minutes and costs 30-50 RMB.

The nearest metro station to the campus is Southern Business District on line 3, which is about 15 minutes’ walk.
