Undergraduate entry requirements

Hong Kong applicants

Year one (preliminary year)

1. HKDSE results

Students from Hong Kong may be considered for preliminary year with HKDSE results of 3,3,3,3. These results should normally include two electives and exclude Liberal Studies. Applicants also need to take HKDSE’s English result of 4 or the IELTS overall 5.5 or above (no less than 5 in any element).

2. Joint entrance examination (JEE)

First division line or above (score of 400) with English score no less than 115.

Year two (qualifying year)

1. HKDSE results

Students from Hong Kong may be considered for qualifying year with HKDSE results of 5,5,4. These results should normally include two electives and exclude Liberal Studies, Chinese Language and English Language. Applicants also need to take HKDSE’s English result of 5 or the IELTS with an overall score of 6.5 or above (writing no less than 6).

2. Higher level Diplomas and Associate Degrees

Applicants who hold higher level diplomas or associate degrees can be considered for year two entry. A typical requirement would be an average grade of B (70-79%) or a GPA of 3.0 (out of 4.0) in a relevant subject. Applicants also must take the IELTS with an overall score of 6.5 or above (writing no less than 6).

3. For those who taking international qualifications

Taiwan applicants

Year one (preliminary year)

1. General scholastic ability test (GSAT 學測)

For graduates from high schools in Taiwan: Achieving "Good" or "Excellent" in the general scholastic ability test.

For graduates from high schools in mainland China: Achieving "Average" or "Good" in the general scholastic ability test.

Applicants must take the IELTS with an overall score of 5.5 or above (no less than 5 in any element).

2.  High school diploma

Typically 80% in the Senior High School Diploma, plus 80% in specific subjects e.g. Maths and Physics for the Engineering programmes. Hold IELTS with an overall score of 5.5 (no less than 5 in any element).

3. Joint entrance examination (JEE)

First division line or above (score of 400) with an English score of no less than 115.

Year two (qualifying year)

1. Normally applicants from Taiwan are required to successfully complete a Foundation Programme or one year at university. A typical requirement would be an average grade of 75% or a GPA of 3.1 (out of 4.0) in a relevant subject. Applicants also must take the IELTS with an overall score of 6.5 or above (writing no less than 6).

Macao applicants

 Year one (preliminary year)

1. High school diploma

Typically 80% or GPA 3.2/4 in the Senior High School Diploma, plus 80% in specific subjects e.g. Maths and Physics for the Engineering programmes. Hold IELTS with an overall score of 5.5 (no less than 5 in any element).

2. Joint entrance examination (JEE)

First division line or above (score of 400) with English score no less than 115.

3. Joint Entrance Examination Scheme for Macao Recommended Students

There will be an online interview for all Macao recommended students on January 2023.

Year two (qualifying year)

Postgraduate entry requirements

Hong Kong applicants

A bachelor degree from a recognised university. Typical GPA requirements is 3.0 out of 4.0.

Language requirement:

Apply for Nottingham University Business School China: with IELTS results of overall 6.5 (no less than 6.0 in any element).

Apply for Faculty of  Science and Engineering: with IELTS results of  6.0 (no less than 5.5 in any element).

Apply for Faculty of Humanities and Social Science: with IELTS results of 6.5 (no less than 6.0 in writing).

Taiwan applicants

A bachelor degree from a recognised university. Typical GPA requirements is 3.1 out of 4.0 or an average grade of 75%.
