Entry requirements for HMT students

Hong Kong applicants

Year one (preliminary year)

1. HKDSE results

Students from Hong Kong may be considered for preliminary year with HKDSE results. Overall 12 scores with 4 subjects (including 3 main subjects and 1 elective at least, exclude Liberal Studies).

2. Joint entrance examination (JEE)

First division line or above with English score no less than 115.

Students may inquire about the admissions policies, application procedures and information on "Admissions Information Website of Mainland Universities for Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan students" (www.gatzs.com.cn).

Language Requirements for preliminary year:

• IELTS overall 5.5 with no less than 5 in each elements;
• PTE Academic 59 (minimum 53);
• TOEFL(iBT) overall 72 (minimum 14 in Reading, 15 in Listening, 16 in Writing and 19 in Speaking)

Year two (qualifying year)

1. HKDSE results

Students from Hong Kong may be considered for qualifying year with HKDSE results of 4,4,4 or above.

Applicants who get HKDSE’s English result of 4 or above can waive IELTS 6.5.

2. For those who taking international qualifications

We accept students with international qualifications to apply for year 2 direct entry. See below "International qualification entry requirement"

Language Requirements for qualifying year:

• IELTS overall 6.5 with no less than 6 in each elements;
• PTE Academic 71 (minimum 65)
• TOEFL(iBT) overall 90 (minimum 19 in Writing)

Taiwan applicants

Year one (preliminary year)

1. General scholastic ability test (GSAT 學測)

For graduates from high schools in Taiwan: Achieving "Good" or "Excellent" (前标) in the general scholastic ability test.

For graduates from high schools in mainland China: Achieving "Average" or "Good" （均标）in the general scholastic ability test.

2.  High school diploma

Typically get average of 75%  or GPA 3.0/4.0 in the complete High School Transcript.  

3. Joint entrance examination (JEE)

First division line or above with an English score of no less than 115.

Macao applicants

 Year one (preliminary year)

1. Form 6 Test

Overall get “Pass” with each subject get “Pass”.

2. High school diploma

Typically get average of  75%  or GPA 3.0/4.0 in the complete High School Transcript. 

3. Joint entrance examination (JEE)

First division line or above with English score no less than 115.

4. Joint Entrance Examination Scheme for Macao Recommended Students

There will be an online interview for all Macao recommended students on January 2025. 

Students may inquire about the admissions policies, application procedures and information on "Joint Entrance Examination of Recommended Students from Macao to Degree Courses of Higher Education Institutions in Mainland China" (https://appl.dsedj.gov.mo/ChinaUEnrollment/index.jsp).

International Qualification Entry Requirement

For Preliminary Year Entry:

• GCSE/IGCSE/O-Levels: get at least 5"B" grades;
• ACT: with overall 27 scores;
• SAT test: get 1280 scores or above;

For Qualifying Year Entry:

• A-level: get BBB grades or above,relevant requirements vary for each programe;
• AP: get 444 grades or above, relevant requirements vary for each programe;
• IB grades: get 30 scores or above, relevant requirements vary for each programe.

Academic Requirements

An honours bachelor degree at 2:1 level from a recognised university. Typical GPA requirement is 3.0 out of 4.0 or equivelant.

Language Requirements

If your first language is not English or your entry qualification was not obtained in the English medium (from an approved institution) you are required to provide evidence of your proficiency in English. Only off-line English test score is accepted.

Our Centre for English Language Education (CELE) provides pre-master programmes for students who are preparing for postgraduate study. Successful completion of the pre-sessional programme is acceptable for meeting the minimum English language requirements of postgraduate admission to University of Nottingham Ningbo China.
