On advice from the Zhejiang Education Department and as the health and safety of our students and staff is the overriding priority, the University has postponed the return dates for students and teaching staff.
In an email Provost Nick Miles wrote to all students and staff, he said: "For students we cannot give a precise return date at this moment as we need approval from the local government and health authorities. This is the same for all universities in Ningbo and across Zhejiang. We will keep you continually informed of the situation.
"Teaching staff should now be on campus by 16 March 2020. Online teaching will begin as planned on 2 March 2020."

Update on 5 February:
Further to a meeting today, the University has taken the following decisions in accordance with the latest notice from Zhejiang Education Department
- Students will be allowed to return to campus on or after 29th Feb in readiness for the beginning of semester 2 on 2nd March 2020.
- Teaching staff are expected to be on campus to prepare for semester 2 by 24 February.
- For professional and administrative staff, the return date is 10 February.

Update on 27 January:
Responding to the concern over the new coronavirus (2019-nCoV) outbreak, the University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC) has decided to postpone the start date of the new semester to 24th February, 2020 for all students. For staff, the returning date is delayed accordingly to 10th February, 2020.
This arrangement may be adjusted if the University receives further notification from Zhejiang Provincial Department of Education.
All students (except those who are currently living on campus) are not allowed to come back to the campus in advance. Students’ halls of residence will not be opened before 9am 22nd February, 2020.
