International Interns operate in the Centre for English Language Education (CELE) with duties on campus for up to 20 hours per week. Within these duties interns have the opportunity to work in many roles, including working directly with students, as faculty support, and to research independently.

Based in the Writing Lab@UNNC, interns work with lecturers and tutors; advise and assist students with one-on-one and group language support; are involved in coaching and extracurricular activities; work in digital learning environments; attend and support cultural events; work in the local community through the university outreach programme, and a host of other roles.

  • Duration of one academic year, approx. Sept-May
  • Up to 20 hours per week 
  • 40RMB hour payment
  • No Chinese language prerequisite

Requirements for applicants

Postgraduate students with a background in or currently studying education, linguistics, TESOL or English is beneficial, though not required. The candidate must be a native/native-like English speaker and very confident in their English writing & communications skills, as language advising is integral to the role.
