Industry, Teaching, and Research Base collaboration by CCB Ningbo and UNNC-NFTZ Blockchain Laboratory was unveiled

On the morning of 10th July 2020, the unveiling ceremony of the Industry, Teaching, and Research Base (the Base) collaboration by China Construction Bank(CCB) University Ningbo Branch Campus and UNNC-NFTZ Blockchain Laboratory was successfully held.

The Base co-established by CCB University Ningbo Branch Campus and UNNC-NFTZ Blockchain Laboratory is an example of implementing the central government policy of deepening the integration of education and production. By using big data, cloud computing, blockchain, artificial intelligence and other cutting-edge technologies, the Base aims to set up fintech innovation platforms and promote the integration of fintech talent and industry demands. Relying on the cooperation of UNNC-NFTZ Blockchain Laboratory, the Base takes advantage of the rich scientific and educational resources as well as the localisation advantages of UNNC. In addition, with the growing demand for practical applications in Ningbo, CCB provides professional support in the development of creative applications of financial technology and the fostering of innovative fintech talent.

Thomas Murphy, Chief Financial and Planning Officer of UNNC, gave a welcome speech at the unveiling ceremony. He pointed out that the blockchain laboratory and CCB University Ningbo Branch Campus can work together in the five areas of ABCDE: Artificial intelligence; Blockchain; Cloud computing; Data (as in big data) and Ecosystems. Thomas believes that these technologies are expected to be used in practice, to build an outstanding fintech ecosystem, serving companies and financial institutions in Ningbo and other cities.

Lu Zhimeng, Deputy Director of NFTZ Management Committee believes that the Base would be an innovative and comprehensive platform for digital economic development, which can further play a function for the Ningbo Free Trade Zone Financial Technology (Blockchain) Industrial Park and will help explore new models for innovative economic development in Ningbo and elsewhere.

Fang Jianping, the President of China Construction Bank Ningbo, presented a vision that the Industry, Teaching and Research Base will provide more professional courses to train financial technology talent; promote technology R&D, transformational achievements, and innovative collaborations; and serve financial development.

The unveiling ceremony was hosted by Professor Hua Xiuping, the Director of the Blockchain Laboratory. Professor Martin Lockett, Chairman of the Board of UNNC-NFTZ Blockchain Lab, and Xu Yongliang, Vice President of China Construction Bank Ningbo, unveiled the ceremony plague.
