Entry requirements for applicants from Ghana at Undergraduate level

Preliminary year (year one)

For Year 12 students taking the Senior School Certificate (SSC) through the WAEC (West African Examinations Council), we usually look for a minimum of 5 grade Cs, with Bs in relevant subjects.

For the Engineering Foundation Programme, relevant subjects are Maths and Physics, unless using the foundation as a pathway to Chemical Engineering, in which case the relevant subjects are Maths and Chemistry.

For most other foundation programmes, relevant subjects are English and Maths. Other relatively strong subjects, e.g. Business and Law, may also be taken into consideration.

Qualifying year (year two)

For those students who have completed the standard year 12 examinations (SSC/WAEC), an appropriate foundation programme is required.

Some private and international schools are now providing A levels, and students taking these should meet the usual A-level entry requirements as indicated in the prospectus and online.

Students taking A levels or the IB should refer to our international qualifications section.

Students taking APs or SATIIs should refer to entry requirements for the USA.
