27 November 2019

The UNNC 2019 Scholarship Award Ceremony for international students and students from Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan area was held on the afternoon of 27th November, at the Lakeside Restaurant of the UNNC Liberal Arts Hotel.

This year, there are a total of 219 scholarship winners from over 40 countries and regions. Mr. WANG Weimin, Deputy Director General of Ningbo Education Bureau and Prof. SHEN Weiqi, Vice Provost of UNNC, attended the event and expressed their congratulations to the winners.

Mr. WANG Weimin also took this opportunity to share with UNNC students the progress Ningbo City made in the year. In the past 3 quarters, Ningbo GDP reached to RMB817 million, increasing by 6.5%, which is ahead of the national average. Starting from 1st December 2019, Ningbo will officially implement a 144 hour transit-visa-exemption policy, becoming the fourth city implementing this policy in the Yangtze River Delta, after only Shanghai, Nanjing and Hangzhou. It means foreigners can enter and leave China from these four cities without applying for a Chinese visa as long as their stay is less than 144 hours. Up to now, Ningbo has established cooperative relations with more than 1,200 universities and colleges in 110 countries and regions. The city is constantly creating conditions to make the study and life of international students more convenient and diversified.

A photo exhibition about 'Silk Road China', a UNNC International Students Cultural Exchange Activity, was also arranged during the scholarship ceremony. It has played a positive role in promoting international youth cultural exchanges, cultivating future ambassadors of the Belt and Road Initiative, and telling Chinese stories.
