Loctek supports 38 student awardees in its 2022 scholarship programme with UNNC

The University of Nottingham Ningbo China has held the UNNC Loctek Scholarship 2022 Award Ceremony on campus, awarding 38 students scholarship awards. This is also the first time that the UNNC Loctek Scholarship has been awarded since its creation in 2020.

In 2020, Loctek Ergonomic Technology Corporation generously donated RMB 3 million to set up the University of Nottingham Ningbo China Loctek Scholarship to support the innovative practice and development of outstanding students. The scholarship encourages students of the University to improve their work skills and employability through subject research, project practice, and internships. The aim is to develop innovative thinking skills which are then applied to solve real problems in the industry.

Founded in 2002 and listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange GEM on 1 December, 2017, Loctek is the first A-share public company in the comprehensive health and ergonomic industry and also the first cross-border e-commerce stock listed via IPO. Loctek has set up nearly 40 subsidiary companies in the United States, Vietnam and the Philippines, realising the globalisation of manufacturing, sales and operation.

Since the launch of the Loctek Scholarship Programme at the University of Nottingham Ningbo China, three faculties and various departments have actively participated in the support, and students have also actively signed up and participated. With the joint efforts of all parties, the Loctek Scholarship Programme 2022 has been successfully completed and 38 students were awarded scholarships with the kind support of Loctek.

Presenting the awards were UNNC senior leaders, Professor Philip Seltsikas, Vice Provost for Education and Student Experience, Professor Kok Wei Khong, Dean of NUBS China, Mr Jianhui Mao, Executive Vice President of Loctek and Mr Ye Lin, Director of Human Resources of Loctek. Representatives from NUBS China, FHSS, FOSE, the Careers and Employability Service and the Development and Alumni Relations Office also attended the ceremony to celebrate the outstanding achievements of the award recipients. The ceremony was hosted by Mrs. Lei He, Interim Director of Development and Alumni Relations Office.

Professor Philip Seltsikas was delivered a welcome speech, congratulating all of the scholarship recipients and expressed his sincere gratitude for the generous philanthropic spirit of Loctek and its support of UNNC students’ achievements and a hope for a long and close cooperation.

“Your academic accomplishments and achievements outside of the classroom have been truly exceptional, and we are thrilled to recognise your efforts and successes that have been so well supported by the Loctek Scholarship.”

“Loctek’s contribution to empowering and supporting the next generation of graduates is truly commendable, and we are privileged to have you as our partner in this endeavour. We hope that we can maintain a long and close cooperation.”

Executive Vice President Mr Jianhui Mao congratulated all scholarship recipients and expressed sincere thanks to UNNC teachers and staff members who have worked hard for the Loctek Scholarship Programme 2022.

“UNNC is a great university that emphasises international education, and is committed to cultivating talents with international vision and cross-cultural communication skills. UNNC offers unique instruction approaches encouraging students to actively explore and innovate in their study and research, combining theory and practice, and providing students with rich opportunities for internship and practice…UNNC has a strong faculty team who come from all over the world and are leading scholars in their fields. For this reason, in addition to the Loctek scholarship, we are pleased to see the deepening collaboration between Loctek and UNNC.”

After Mr Mao’s speech, Clara Priscilla Tham, representative for those receiving awards, a final-year International Business Management Student from Indonesia delivered her acceptance speech: “Loctek is actually encouraging us to think and apply theories we study at school in a real company situation…It felt that I was in a professional environment where I get to pitch in a presentation of my ideas, along with the arguments on how I could make it feasible. A truly new and meaningful experience for me that I could learn how to multi-task and learn how to be more confident with myself.”

Mr Ye Lin, Director of Human Resources of Loctek, gave a speech on the company's talent training and school recruitment in 2023. After the introduction, Loctek answered several questions from the students.

After the ceremony, Professor Kok Wei Khong, Dean of NUBS China, Mr Mao, Executive Vice President and other representatives from UNNC and Loctek discussed how to strengthen talent training in the future, providing students with more employment guidance through their Ingenuity Lab and Seeds Programme.
