On 25 May, the Digital Future of Healthcare Management Symposium hosted by the Nottingham China Healthcare Institute (NCHI) was concluded successfully. The Symposium focused on the digitisation of healthcare management research and provided a platform for academic exchange and collaboration for attending experts and scholars. It also offered theoretical support and practical guidance for technological innovation and future development of healthcare management.
The Symposium began with opening remarks from Professor Alain Chong, Vice Provost for Global Engagement and Partnerships at the University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC), and Professor Kok Wei Khong, Dean of Nottingham University Business School China, who extended a warm welcome to the guests.
Subsequently, Ms Rose Min, Interim Director for Research and Knowledge Exchange, introduced the Nottingham Health China Plan and the university's achievements in healthcare-related research and knowledge exchange in recent years and future plans.
In the keynote session, Dr Yongtian Yu, Secretary General of Zhiwei Research Institute, discussed the development trends of China's hospital digital intelligence operation and management, and explained the challenges and opportunities. In conjunction with NCHI, Zhiwei Research Institute also released the "Hospital Digital Intelligence Operation and Management Development Trend Blue Book 2024".
Mr Bin Wu from the Information Centre of the First Affiliated Hospital of Ningbo University, who has been responsible for the construction and management of information technology in hospitals, introduced the practical applications of digital intelligence management in hospital operations, diagnosis and treatment processes. The following morning, the Symposium organised some guests to visit the First Affiliated Hospital of Ningbo University, Fangqiao District.
Professor Chee-Wee Tan from the Department of Management and Marketing at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, focused on the frontiers of digital healthcare, discussing the effective use of digital tools amidst current challenges, such as the ageing population and the problem of chronic diseases in society.
In the panel discussion, Dr Zhao Cai, Executive Director of NCHI, joined four experts to discuss the application of AI in healthcare management and the challenges and opportunities therein.
During the afternoon session of the Symposium, Professor Jian Rui from the School of Journalism and Communication, South China University of Technology, Dr Xiaofei Zhang from the Business School of Nankai University, Dr Shupei Yuan from Public Relations and Science Communication at Northern Illinois University in the United States, and Dr Mengli Yu, from Nankai University's School of Journalism and Communication, shared their recent research findings.
NCHI is a research platform that focuses on health and healthcare management. It is dedicated to research in the following areas: artificial intelligence and health data analysis, data-driven health communication, future healthcare technology and management, healthcare leadership, management and training. The Institute has international, interdisciplinary and multidimensional professional talents, as well as first-class laboratories and hardware support.
