Li Dak Sum Innovation Fellowship Project "NOTTINK - the Authentication Platform based on the 3D Printing Digital Watermarking Technology and Blockchain Technology" won Silver Medal Award and Paper Competition Honorable Mention Place Award in The 14th International Conference and the Global Competition on Systematic Innovation


The 14th International Conference and the Global Competition on Systematic Innovation , initiated by the International Society of Innovative Methods (I-SIM), was successfully held at Guangdong Business and Technology University on 14-15 October. At the conference, the project funded by Li Dak Sum Innovation Fellowship, "NOTTINK - the Authentication Platform based on the 3D Printing Digital Watermarking Technology and Blockchain Technology", supervised by Professor Hing Kai Chan from University of Nottingham Ningbo China, won the Silver Medal Award and Paper Competition Honorable Mention Place Award in The 14th International Conference and the Global Competition on Systematic Innovation.

The International Conference and the Global Competition on Systematic Innovation is the highest-level event organised by the International Society of Innovative Methods (I-SIM), which aims to promote networked collaboration among participants and advance the theory and practice of innovation. The conference and competition focus on current hot issues of artificial intelligence, explores cutting-edge topics of innovation, looks at international development trends, and showcases theoretical and technological advances in all aspects of systemic innovation, including product, process, and service innovation. The conference invited world-renowned scholars, who made wonderful sharing in terms of academic cutting-edge theories and latest research results. More than 50 renowned scholars and industry experts from 17 countries and regions, including China and South Korea, participated in the seminar offline. All papers and innovation projects were evaluated by experts in the field of innovation, and 71 papers and 11 innovation projects from all over the world were shortlisted for the final paper and project competitions. These finalists represent the latest outstanding achievements in the field of innovation.

The Li Dak Sum Innovation Fellowship Scheme, sponsored by UNNC Education Foundation, supervised and managed by Li Dak Sum Incubator, is a Knowledge Transfer Support Scheme to encourage UNNC acdamamic staff and students to transfer their research and knowledge to business for better social and economic impact. The supporting area of the scheme will be in line with UNNC's research development strategy, Ningbo and China's development priority. The scheme aims to support the '0-1' transition from fundamental discovery science to a point along the translational research pathway, bringing technological innovation, inventions and intellectual property developed from research activities and their transfer to the industry and the market for the benefits of society and the economy. Established in 2019, the funding scheme provides no less than 3 million per year, open to academic staff and Phd students of all faculties. Since its establishment in 2019, 29 projects have received full support from the fund, generating more than 60 intellectual property rights and promoting the landing of 2 technology spin-off companies.

Professor Hing Kai Chan's project, "NOTTINK - the Authentication Platform based on the 3D Printing Digital Watermarking Technology and Blockchain Technology", is a key project of the Li Dak Sum Innovation Fellowship 2021. With excellent academic performance, this project was highly evaluated by the judges and won the Silver Medal Award and Paper Competition Honorable Mention Place Award in The 2023 Paper & lnvention Competitions on Systematic Innovation.

Relying on the patented technology of digital watermarking for 3D printing models and blockchain technology already in its possession, the NOTTINK platform provides a convenient and reliable 3D printing encryption forensic platform for commercial end-users by taking advantage of platformisation, systematisation and process. The services provided by the platform include: 3D digital model watermark encryption service; 3D printing finished product attribution forensic service; 3D printing data storage service; 3D printing digital model design file transaction service.

NOTTINK aims to provide enterprises with easy-to-use interface, accurate forensics, and worry-free rights protection services to protect the intellectual property rights of 3D printing products. They have launched a platform based on 3D printing property right authentication and covering a wide range of product authentication services to provide an integrated and sustainable ecological environment for encryption, authentication, trading and storage of 3D digital models, and to promote the upgrading of related digital intellectual property rights industry services. The NOTTINK platform has been initially launched and operated, and has received positive feedback from the industry.
