Bloomberg now available at UNNC

18 December 2020

UNNC launched its new Financial Markets and Technology Hub on 18th December in collaboration with Bloomberg and other leading financial data providers, such as WIND, CSMAR. The Hub includes 12 Bloomberg terminals and will support NUBS China teaching, research and student activities.

The Bloomberg terminals are now ready for use. The Hub operates as part of the Bloomberg for Education project for universities around the world. Bloomberg is an important tool in the financial industry for market analysis and trading. It provides real-time and historical data for global markets. More than 70% of investment banks, commercial banks and large financial companies around the world use Bloomberg terminals. UNNC students can now gain hands-on experience of the financial world on campus.

Bloomberg will be integrated into classroom teaching at UNNC, as well as in student and faculty research. Students can use Bloomberg data and analytics to perform real-world tasks, such as real-time and historical analysis, tracking portfolios with forward-looking data, building custom formulas, and conducting mock trading. They can learn how to analyze financial markets, assess economic scenarios and interpret key news developments that impact the global economy.

In China, elite institutions such as the Peking University and Tsinghua University have Bloomberg terminals. UNNC is a pioneer in Zhejiang Province being equipped with the Bloomberg Professional Service. As well as being a must-have, specialised tool in finance, Bloomberg can also be used extensively in the accounting, economics and management areas.

The Financial Markets and Technology Hub with its Bloomberg terminals will contribute to UNNC’s strategic aims. Firstly, it will improve students’ future employability as students will gain essential hands-on experience in the Hub. Through the terminals, students can also access information on internships/jobs in the wider finance industry including within Bloomberg company itself. Secondly, it will contribute to greater student engagement. Bloomberg’s educational material is designed to give students as much exposure to corporate life as possible as well as academic content relating to finance, accounting, economics and business strategy.
